Blog Post #9: BBG Chapter 9

Today in class, our professor explained the next assignment for our new project. We have to create a multi-genre project based on the topic from project 2. It seems simple enough, but I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach that I will end up making it way more complicated than it needs to be. This project reminds me of the assignments my former teachers gave my class in high school where we were told to make creative presentations, such as posters, videos, and scenes based on books we read in class. Maybe that is what a multi-genre project is, maybe it is something else. As you can tell, I do not really know what a multi-genre project is. For homework, we have to write a blog about chapter 9 of the Bedford Book of Genres called the assembling a multi-genre project. So, here I am.

(I'm pretty sure this is how I looked like when reading this chapter)

Although my understanding is not exactly crystal clear on what I need to do for this project, I understand way more than I did a while ago. It turns out that it isn’t what I thought it was. To assemble a multi-genre project, an introduction must first be produced. An introduction provides a summary of the topic, your stance or perspective, and also what inspired you to choose this topic. Next, the genre needs to be sequenced in a way that it flows and is easy for the audience to follow. The next step is the simplest of all the steps, but due to my lack of creativity, my end product is not always as dazzling. You need to title the project. I suck at creating good titles, so I always end up giving up and using the first lame title I could think of. Once that is taken care of, you need to create an artist statement, or a statement that explains what you talk about in your work and its evaluation. Last but not least, make the project creative. This is what captures your audience’s attention and makes them remember your project.

Although I may not fully understand how I am suppose to complete this project, I understand enough that I'll be able to get started.
